MTV/CMからの映画監督
有名なところでは岩井俊二監督などはもともとはCMやPVを制作して監督になっています。
ただ、この業界に入るのはかなりハードルが高いです。
今は「踊る大走査線」の本広克行氏が所属していたロボットという会社にいました。
そこから実績を残して退社前に制作したラブレターが大ヒットして一躍有名監督の
仲間入りをしました。
またPVから転進した監督としてはミスチルや布袋のPVを手がけた中野裕之監督が
サムライフィクションで映画デビューをしています。
CMやPVは監督になってしまえばある程度の収入があるのですがそこまでになるには相当
厳しいのが事実です。
最近はPVに多額のお金が流れ込むために需要があるのですが同時にたくさんの監督候補が狙っているのですが大手のCM製作会社に入ってもやはり監督として活躍できる人も一握りです。
また、社内での競争もあるのです。
ただ、この分野から進出している監督はおおむね成功しており特に映像感覚が違うので例えば私は岩井監督が大好きです。
アメリカでは今や大物となったデビッド・フィンチャーがこのMTV出身です。
それから見出されて「エイリアン３」でデビューしてからご存知ファイトクラブやセブンなどで大物になっています。
特に最近の話題としてミッションインポッシブル３の監督に内定していたのに降りたということでしょう。
このように有望ではありますが映画監督になるにはそれなりの方法がある中でこのCM業界やPVの制作は現在日本では多くの監督を輩出している分野です。
